Resistance to beta-lactams has been increasing in the treatment of urinary tract infections worldwide. The production of ESBLS is the major cause of resistance to these drugs. We have determined the genes encoding the ESBLS including blaTEM, blaSHV, blaCTX-M among isolated uropathogens. CTX-M ESBLS were the most common. Interestingly, most ESBLs were detected in uropathogens that were isolated from urine after antibiotic treatment. Interested in your opinion.
